Description
Nadine is one of the world’s first truly autonomous social humanoid robots, modeled on Professor Nadia Thalmann and developed first at Singapore NTU and since 2021, at MIRALab, University of Geneva.
Long before today’s generative AI revolution, Nadine was already interacting naturally with humans — remembering people, holding conversations in multiple languages, showing emotions, and building long-term relationships.
Nadine is not a laboratory prototype. She has worked in real environments:
- Companion for elderly people — supporting cognitive engagement and social interaction
- Receptionist in a bank — welcoming and guiding clients
- Customer service agent in Singapore — assisting insurance clients
She demonstrates that social robots can move beyond novelty and become trusted interactive agents in society.
Technological Vision and innovation
Nadine integrates:
- AI-driven dialogue systems
- Facial expression and gaze interaction
- Memory of past conversations
- Emotional modeling
- Multilingual communication
She represents the bridge between early embodied conversational agents and today’s AI-powered digital humans.
Why Nadine Matters Today?
In the era of generative AI and humanoid robotics, Nadine stands as a visionary precursor — proving that social intelligence, memory, and embodiment are essential for the next generation of human–AI interaction.
She is not just a robot.
She is a milestone in the evolution of digital humans and digital intelligence presence.
